CALGARY ROYALS ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION AWARDS

Bob Arkley Memorial Award
This Award is presented in memory of Bob Arkley, who served as a Coach, Manager, Director and President of the Calgary Royals Athletic Association. Bob Arkley went on the serve many years on AA Council and helped build the Macs Midget Tournament. This Trophy is sponsored by the Calgary Royals Athletic Association to honor the many hours of dedicated Service and sportsmanship exemplified by the Bob Arkley. The winner is chosen from all eligible hockey people under the AA Council umbrella and is presented at the banquet of the recipient. AA Hockey Council chooses the Award winner annually.

Bill Shearer Memorial Award
This Award is presented annually in memory of Bill Shearer, who served the Calgary Royals Athletic Association for many years as a Charter Member, President and Past President.  The Trophy is awarded to a dedicated Midget AAA Player chosen by the coaching staff of the AAA Midget Hockey Team, Calgary Royals Athletic Association.

Emile Dupont Memorial Award
This Award is presented in memory of Emile Dupont who served many years as a Director and Treasurer for the South West Athletic Association. The Trophy goes to a player who represents the Calgary Royals Athletic Association in a leadership role, displaying outstanding qualities, including sportsmanship, and dedication to his team.

Reg Turner Memorial Award
This Award is presented annually in memory of Reg Turner, who was a long time coach and supporter of the Calgary Royals Athletic Association in the Calgary Junior Hockey League. The Trophy goes to a Junior B Hockey player. The player chosen has proven leadership qualities and portrays dedication and sportsmanship during the regular season.  The recipient is chosen by Hockey Operations of the Calgary Royals Athletic Association.

Mike Vernon Award
The Mike Vernon Award honors a Calgary Royals Athletic Association Graduate. Mike is an outstanding netminder, having been on two Stanley Cup winners and presently playing with the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League. This Award is presented annually to the goaltender in the Calgary Royals Athletic Association who has the best goals against average based on AA Council League statistics. The winner must have played a minimum of forty percent of the league games for his team.  Playoff averages are not considered towards this Award.

Most Sportsmanlike Team
This Trophy is awarded annually to the Calgary Royals Athletic Association team that is assessed the least penalty minutes during League play. If two teams have similar numbers, Hockey Operations will select the team that best exemplifies sportsmanship on and off the ice.  AA Council League statistics will be used to determine eligibility.

Coach of the Year
This Award is presented annually to the Head Coach who has best developed his team in the Calgary Royals Athletic Association in all aspects of the game.  Hockey Operations selects the recipient, based on leadership abilities, sportsmanship and good communication skills. The winner must possess an exceptional knowledge of the game and ensure that all segments of his team receive positive educational teaching to improve skills at all levels.

Coordinator of the Year
This Award is presented annually to the Director who has shown total dedication to the program for his team(s). The Director must show leadership, sportsmanship, and good communications skills. The Director must show respect for the game and provide clear direction to the team(s) throughout the year. This award will be given to the Director who best exemplifies these traits and is assigned a team in the Calgary Royals Athletic Association. The President and Vice Presidents of CRAA will select the recipient.

Manager of the Year
This Award is presented annually to the manager who best supports Calgary Royals Athletic Association policies and procedures during the hockey season.  Hockey Operations selects the recipient, based on a good working relationship with the coaches on his or her team, as well as a demonstrated ability to interact positively with the players and parents. The manager must be organized and have all the player interests at heart throughout the hockey season.  This Award is presented to honor a volunteer in the Calgary Royals Association who has provided many hours of dedicated Service to the Association over the year. The winner is chosen from all eligible hockey people within the Association and is presented at the annual banquet.  The President of CRAA chooses the Award winner annually.

President's Award
This Award is presented to honor a volunteer in the Calgary Royals Association who has provided many hours of dedicated Service to the Association over the year. The winner is chosen from all eligible hockey people within the Association and is presented at the annual banquet.  The President of CRAA chooses the Award winner annually.
